Planning Process

Developing an effective, comprehensive financial plan is a process, and here are 4 steps you can expect along the way.

It begins with a no-cost introductory discovery meeting. The majority of our time together will be focused on discussing your goals, concerns and challenges. We'll talk about where you are now, where you want to be in the future, and the potential roadblocks that may keep you from getting there, as well as to quantify what your current resources are as a starting point. I'll briefly share my philosophy for working with clients, and explain the important components that should be included within a comprehensive financial plan. By the end our discussion, and after your questions are answered, we can determine if we have a good basis to work together or not.

If we find that we do, then we'll proceed forward to the next step. And if we find that we don't -- no concern or obligation. Either way, I will appreciate the opportunity to have met you, and to share how I serve my clients.

Plan Design: Once all the necessary information has been gathered, the 2nd step is to develop a customized written plan, with strategies designed to help you from where you are now to where you want to be. Each client's financial plan is different, because it's driven by their specific situation—what's important to them—their goals, their resources, and the season of life they're in. For example, a young family's plan may look a lot different than the plan for a couple nearing retirement.

Implementation: If there are parts of your financial plan that have already been completed by you, we don't want to undo any of the good work you have already done. We'll review what you have in place and include those parts into the plan. However, if we discover that there are gaps or deficiencies, this is where we will discuss and evaluate the options to bridge those gaps, so you can move forward with a plan that addresses your financial concerns and helps equip you to successfully reach for your stated goals.

Ongoing Review: The final step, is to get together on a regular basis, usually once a year, but more often if needed--based on your requirements & wishes. We do this to help make sure your plan is keeping up with your current needs and changing circumstances. Your plan isn't written in stone. As circumstances change, we can modify it. I'm also like an “accountability coach”, helping you stay on track with your plan over time.

Depending on your needs you may have other steps included in the process or may not have all the steps included.
